AMI is in collaboration with Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department in NPST and deanship of scientific research projects. The objective was to streamline the medical/engineering interactions for the fabrication of customized titanium implants. The 3D printed patient specific implants drastically decrease the mandible implant failure and concomitantly reduce the number of revisions, to eliminate the psychological stress and pain on the patients. The customized implants also reduces the surgical time and medical cost on the community. As part of the project, an In Vivo study was performed on goats to investigate the surgical treatment and implant fitting accuracy of electron beam melted customized reconstruction plates.
